A sister portal. A pearl. Beautiful header graphics. The site is extremely
well-done!

Are
you into pixel design? Momorobo has pushed it to the limits - literally
of their just launched mini-design studio. Having done some myself, I know
how streneous, painstaking long and the efforts required to achieve the
right 'look'. Luv the palette and logo becoming avatar and icons are delicious.

Best
with the sound up - an immersive experience awaits you! Brace yourself
(yepp another!) a new 'urban martial arts' tale / movie called Arahan is
upcoming! Top notch concept, visuals, animations... and cool hip hop track
in Korean :))

Wanna
see how using the 'book' metaphor can really work? Have a look at Piperboy
Scrapbook (travel photography) for a smashing example! As always Edvin,
you outdid yourself!

How
early is too early? One thing I really like is to see students putting
up work that paves the way to a great career: upcoming and shooting for
the stars is Form Conspiracy.
Take a look at the class project he did, amongst others. Definitely someone
to watch for!

How
small can it get? That small Three 8 design and marketing group has got
it! The whole site holds in one 'content holder'. Quite a feat! The fuzzy
initial graphic on the index could be improved but apart from that, great
work!

WellVetted issue
#22 is released!

You
have gotta see this! Scienceunderfire displays
the most awesome 3D rendering interface of robot like models that animates
and lay suspended while navigating! Magnificent!

Something
to discover the Tomato Workshops! Virtual collaborating + creative processes
explored. View the different workshops and see for yourself! Wow! Wish

“Always

in mostly coporate branding for TV channels. Edgy, original and smart site.

Mix
urban backgrounds, grungy look, merky layer, quirky feel and simple to
the point content and you get Pure

Another
wonder illustrator! graham-carter sure
has extensive experience. His style is part cartoonish (line art) and assembling
block like ladders & snake stories that incorporates miniature personas.
He is really good at making a story! I guess that's what makes an illustrator
a good one. For some of his best work - check the 'editorial' section.

Chrissie
MacDonald
photomontages
are little jewels. Often times, such attempts are rougher and may be
incorported with other media like paint and texture - does not mean that
these are not as interesting - but hers - lean towards setting miniature
stages.
The 'believability' level really makes them stand out!

Merging
the invisible layers by Taxi. “When Factory 1 design said it’s
a result of a collaboration, they meant business. Kelly Scott Hill and
Larisa Pedroncelli formed this collaborative outfit from a “domestic” partnership
that can only have too many unsaid stories, unshared emotions and unseen
episodes. A partnership that provides the above-mentioned with personal
balance of creation, spirituality and effective expression – not
the kind of treatment that any Californian outfit would be likely to
offer.
Working with the same set of raw materials for all their
projects, they appeared satisfied with not they have in their hands, but
what they have in their minds. Two brains, two voices, one martini bar.”

Excerpts
from The Impact of Cultural Transformation on Brand Marketing by Cheryl
Swanson.
“...Consumers experience brands visually, in their totality, placing
new importance on “visual positioning,” which holds the key
to successful brand marketing today.
...Consumers experience brands emotionally, not through individual communications,
i.e. advertising, packaging, online presence or promotions, but in their
totality. An effective “visual position” is a pre-requisite
to delivering a consistent message across media.
...The Myth of Leisure - Fast Times. Technology was supposed to take on
boring tasks to provide us more leisure time. Instead, time management
is a major issue. Along with technological change, language is evolving
rapidly, underscoring the importance that visual language plays to the
long-term health of brands.
...Future Brands? How does this human inspired vision of the future affect
design and brands? “The "human principle,” a sharing of
our imperfections, weaknesses, feelings, and idiosyncrasies, rather than
the perfection of machines...
...Brand Relevance Factors? Empathy, understanding our time
pressed needs.”

Dear
Martin. You want to know what I think of your “first serious flash
project”? I like the sketch that precedes the first picture. I like
the fact that you have created a space where you captured the journey of Rafael
Schilt saxophone in such a way - that is both intimate and professional!
Such an intensity and dedication can be perceived through the images. Now
I can't wait to see what you do next!

ample space to show his work.

“I
have been a witness, and these pictures are my testimony. The events I
have recorded should not be forgotten and must no be repeated.”
James Nachtwey has worked
aboard ships in the Merchant Marine, and while teaching himself photography,
he was an apprentice news film editor and a truck driver. Since 1980, he
has devoted himself to documenting wars, conflicts and critical social
issues.

Under
fire, a blog software that goes haywire in their licensing for a fee model
for their new 'upgrade' version: Freedom
O by Mark Pilgrim! He provides links to verify and build an objective
opinion about the topic. Smart!
It does seem that every time a good 'software' becomes adopted en masse,
all sense of fairness seems to suddenly disappear. Fudge, at least show
some gratitude towards the thousands users who in fact have build the 'notoriety'
and 'legitimacy' of the system.
Don't read me wrong - it is very OK to expect financial returns but I
question the tactical processes which seems to be hiding a rampant and
hidden scheme. Fear of rejection because there is this 'expectation' that
the internet should be 'Free'. Why not be honest and distribute information
in ref with future plan of development/maintenance... and trust the 'users'
to be intelligent and understanding. The notion that the internet is 'Free'
is a tempting assumption that does not reflect reality. Time is money.
Somebody somewhere is paying for whatever 'Free' content you think you
ought to get. Just think of the hardware, software, connection fees, hosting
fees, etc that are required to be 'on' the internet - all amounting to
substantial $$$. So that is NOT 'Free' in my book.
When the 'agenda' hits you - it's too late! Like freakin'
too late. Out of the bag and out in the ether, shows up in full shame,
'the permission price' for usage. Sometimes, which is even worst, you may
pay for 'upgrades' and start collecting green code which means functionalities
are not fully debugged and tested before release. Now that sucks big time.
PC users have had a direct taste of this for years, tx to some megapoly
corp! Sounds to me like users highjacking!
+
Jules Arthur + is an absolutely awesome artist with a stunning matching
portfolio site. I like the rotation of work with the semi-transparent
layer in between. The interface is like a rusted painted panel. Everything
running smoothly. Hats off to the designer!

Oh!
This is a new way of showing drop-downs, I luv it! Definitely have stepped-up
the process for finding a suitable navigation for displaying a lot of content
without overwhelming visitors; everything feels well-organized! Creativity
in motion!
Well done ASTORT!

Urban Dig

Tx
Oli for the heads up. Designerstalk have put a collection of corporate
brand guidelines that definitely can be usefull to us all.
Saul S. Bedia portfolio has been listed on netdiver since '00 and has relaunched under a new domain n-graph. That
is a sweet news!

Leftloft has
redesigned their site and taken it much further in terms of presentation.
Stunning navigation and great copy!

Mundodapropaganda
is about advetising and design news in Brazil.
LAB
Project demonstrates how using images can tell the 'story' behind
a company service. Almost no text! The thumbnails that serve as navigation
is a brillant idea! Execution? Almost perfect! Book stiching even appear!

Comic
strip animations and design for a financing company??? Why not? An interesting
question in ref with the decision process which concerns the 'other half'
approval! Got to admit that the illustrations (etched style) have a good
level of interactivity with content and how each 'page building' sequence
is animated as well! Overall PDK has
an original concept and a well-done site.
