3 questions
Biggest hurdle overcomed?
When we started the company everything was a bit of a hurdle. The studio has now be running for 2 years and it feels as though only recently we have found a good balance between running a company and a running a space for creative thought and work. I suppose it's natural to push and pull the boundaries before they fall in to their resting place and something that is only resolved with time.
We feel in a good place now and I think this is reflected in our work. I think as a designer you should never disregard a project because the client is seemingly non creative. Some of the best design ever has been done for companies who's audience is seemingly non creative, the key I suppose is pleasing both your contemporaries the target audience.
This said it is lovely to be in a position to work with more experimental clients, hopefully as more people become aware of our work these collaborations will become the norm.
_______
Greatest moment?
I think we are too young to say. I always find it strange when bands release 'Best of' albums whilst they are still writing music. We love working with a variety of interesting people and are luckily enough to have had the opportunity to do so. Be it photographers, directors, writers, illustrators or fashion designers we learn and gain knowledge from each experience and collaboration.
No one is better than any other, they are all great moments and I hope the longer we go on working working the more there are.
_______
What next?
The studio is growing, consciously not too big and consciously not too fast. We are now in a position where we can manage and take on larger projects whilst also making sure there is enough time for experimentation and to produce our own work for exhibitions.
We want to maintain the studio as a workshop for experimentation and play and enjoy having different people with different skills around to collaborate with.
We will always make sure that we are not working to maintain a company structure but that our structure exists to produce exciting and creative work.
