(SFi): Special Feature

Fetching left and wide for people I admire to showcase. Exceptional people who are interesting and tantamount talents in their respective fields. No longer rookies, a stellar career is already under way.

SFi (Special Feature issues) is a self-curation experiment whereas invitees pick ten of their favorite projects to show. Added to their showcase, a minimalist interview consisting of the same three questions, which they answer in a sincere and vulnerable way giving us insights into their creative life, the struggles met and overcomed and what next they aspire to do.

3 Questions, 10 works and some interesting bits of information. A quick and fun read!

Here are they.

Creative Director + Founder
by Emilia Forstreuter

_______

When a project doesn't seem exciting at the first sight I find a way so it does excite me. The feeling of surprising others (and myself) really drives me.

Hybrid Artist / Programmer
by Eric Chan

_______

It was then I realized that my belief in my art at the time was clouded by people's opinions and not my own. In fact, I was very disappointed with myself. How could I have attempted to abandon the very thing I truly am passionate about? I was not being true to myself. Whether people liked it or not does not matter.

Creative Director + Founder
by Jesse Thomas

_______

Social media was our avenue to enter the world of Data Visualization. What we brought to the table was the ability to work with the social media feeds directly as well as understand the higher level marketing theory behind brands use of the platforms.

2-3-dimensional art
by Jen Stark

_______

I love how common and versatile paper is. It is in everyone's daily lives and people tend to overlook the amazing things it can do and be transformed into. I also love the idea of taking something that's 2-dimensional and flat and making it 3-dimensional and intricate.

Strategy / Creative Director
by Fanny Khoo

_______

It only starts to pay off when you're able to form that cross-over between strategy and creative. It's very challenging (but hugely exciting) each time when you're tasked to learn about a completely new industry or subject (depending on client type). You have to be prepared mentally to make these leaps back and forth, filling up gaps and then dividing them.
