Double takes for talented c: his personal portfolio driftlab is clean, slick, luv the nav and the new project he just launched merits a nomination on its own as well, don't miss superhuman!

Oh man... when_o_when do you think we will be rid of M$ lousy OS code?

Check the latest: Worm exploits major Windows flaw by Robert Lemos.

By the way Symantec issued a high level of risk on MSBlast worm (careful there are variants already out there) which does NOT spread via email. Instead, it scans the Internet on port 135 looking for vulnerable computers. When it finds one, it attempts to exploit the DCOM RPC buffer overflow, create a remote root shell on TCP port 4444, then use FTP to download a file called msblast.exe onto the infected computer. There is a *standalone* code to download from Symantec to clean up infected computers - make sure you read and follow the how to carefully.

Needless to say you need to install M$ patch to counter this AFTER you have removed the worm.

The Projector by Carole Guevin

“Now, we might not get our boss or client to faint of ecstasy over our work but setting up the right environment to use the pressures will provide our extracting the best of our talent.”

Ferry Halim has been at it for many years and he keeps on expanding his :: Orisinal games which are fun, safe for kids and yummy to look at.

Double take: this student is on the road to a great career. Visit Leftofsix/Portfolio of Colin Bennett and check his projects especially, visit the link for the Mac box designer, Jonathan Ive.

Another powagirrrl flashing her skills: technomaven made complete with strong projects in her portfolio.

Way to go Heather!

Yoel, founder of Creative Behavior and long time colleague, has redesigned his studio site Indesain.

______

I luv the smart liners in the graphics!

Some play with fire and yield beautiful results, check Rosa Ortega lovely and modern design glasswork.

Well this is an awesome flash site: Mission studio excellent use of graphic for this recording company.

faces...in...the...sky displays more!

Just found out that *Spark-online* magazine is RIP.

I have tried to reach the editor and long time net relation Kris Krug and even his studio domain is now available for purchase. For those of you who may not know, Spark was a really cutting-edge publication exploring the digital culture consciousness and was active for quite a number of years.

______

ndlr: The archives are still availalble.

Nice direct and to the point flash site for Mira Strategic Design!

...........mielnicki*design has got a brand new design! Original palette, graphics and excellent projects!

Another site that has been long on netdiver, almost since the beginning in fact has redesigned ici la lune (supermedia)!

I luv the naming.

Neural.it is now available in English. The printed magazine subscriptions available.

Read 2 excellent interviews:

Geert Lovink interview by Alessandro Ludovico

Bruce Sterling: the Dead Media interview by Alessandro Ludovico

This site is worth seeing since it's using mostly a b&w palette Black Milk digital motion; the snapshot is of one of the downloadable desktop which has an excellent 3D treatment!

Mr. RFM Jr. just launched a high quality portfolio: ronnor.com! Great flash useage in presenting the different projects interestingly.

Scotch & Soda anybody? Nope, not a liquor site but a clothing line. This is what I call a creative and innovative: check the rear mirror for instance!

How best to travel a municipality? Check 360 Erfurt and choose a destination on the map! Now, that's an innovative way of presentating this kind of information!

Well .Don Tempi flash intro has lots of zest + red! Red is a color that can be your dire design enemy, in this case, smartly done!

Brian Taylor the maker of RUSTBOY a 2D storyboard which has been part of netdiver for a while, is now entering the first stages of 3D short film production.

What I just learned about, is that a book will be shortly available and is part of his self-publishing / production. Have a look at the gorgeous inside pages!

What does grunge, pop and rock ballads have to do with with flash? Check Jade' group innovative and originality of interface in sections of the site. The music player is awesome!

Another class iteration for Weymouth design with their navigation prompting content to open in different areas. Check their portfolio: awesome!

The recent announcements regarding IE, Mozilla & AOL have potentially put web standards in jeopardy. Many people talk about and support web standards, and make standards compliant sites but that's not enough. What can we do?

Many people use alternative browsers, but many still happily use IE, just look at the stats from any 'designer portals' out there.

If a lot of the 'web' community starts using non-IE browsers then that will have a small, yet noticeable impact on website stats.

  • - Make the change today
  • - Encourage others to!
  • - Lets save web standards ourselves!
  • - Spread the word.

The Nine Pillars of Successful Web Teams by Jesse James Garrett

What is most important is to identify and make sure that your team can provide for these areas of exepertise.

Ah! farbraum is an ingenious explorative portfolio site with top notch projects by new powagirrrl, Julia Krennhuber.

Coudal Partners have opened a brand new section: Field Tested Books which is timely for this time of year... well at least in our hemisphere!

The Webmaster-Republic relaunched: the 3rd release in now online!

On the move: Eric Meyer (read his interview) is leaving AOL/Time Warner (x_Netscape) and talks about closing one door and opening a new one!

Diginoise Media Lab, a Taipei-based CGI and VFX production house just finished production on a tight little animation short -- NOBO. Links to low or medium bandwidth versions are offline.

The short film is going to be released in DVD shortly.

pioneer 10 is the home of Duane King, who has spin an eclectic array of corp designs as art director by day as well as naive fine art paintings.

Information Design: The Understanding Discipline by Dirk Knemeyer

______

ndlr: Because this is still a fuzzy area. Language is our way of organizing.

New Bill Seeks Prison Time for File Swappers by Roy Mark

______

ndlr: Legislation to make illegal file swapping a felony.

This is a diploma thesis by alex|hoerner who just graduated from the multi media art program in Salzburg.

It has very good footage and camera play and is promising from a *fashion* perspective.

My concern is that the invitation to explore (the navigation will take quite a while to appear) is somewhat in contradiction with the low patience of viewers.

What neXt? reBirth!!! Independentsday.org entering Phase III because the independent content producers refuse to die. New version and project to be announced shortly; stay tuned!

______

ndlr: Could Mac users drop by and review what is online? We've tested with browsercam and it crashed with IE5.2 and Netscape 7. Forward your findings to JF. Thanks.

Because boyz will be boyz will be boyz: BC Precision nicely built!

The Power of Process, The Perils of Process by Erin Malone

“Over processing and am not talking about the hardware is possible because this industry of our, is based mostly on assessing structures so we can reassure but structures - like bars in a jail may prevent you from being free to innovate, be creative or adapt.”

New work displayed on James Turner illustration. His talent is being able to do very concise designs that convey message efficiently.

That's an interesting project (careful proprietary code) for testing and acquiring feedback from an audience.

Much like a focus group done in a zip RepublicEye has introduced a methodology to quantify the relevancy of creative work by providing measured reactions of consumers, clients and designers to any type of creative product, from advertising to product packaging.

A free demonstration, and a new case study available on their website.

An explorative new media project terminus1525 attempts to display a lot of content dedicated to a large spectra of artists.

Ephemeral efforts? Heard the project is appointed to run until early 2004?!? Isn't this surprising since so much efforts go into the taking off of such a project... as well as all these artits who contribute their work...

Attack of the gray? Though there are a lot of grayscale designs out there, these two projects are particularly well done!

Cyber Behavior Research Center - Survey Summaries

“THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMAN BEHAVIOR and the INTERNET is ever evolving. These surveys are an attempt to discern what impact existing behaviors and beliefs have on shaping the Web, and what new behaviors and beliefs may be emerging.”

Do Interface Standards Stifle Design Creativity? by Jakob Nielsen

Gee whiz... Erik Otten has designed a striking and beautiful site. Innovative scrolling object on a book like interface! FAB!

AOL Cuts Remaining Mozilla Hackers as of July 15 Netscape is officially R.I.P.

Old hands know that this is definitely the end of the early web!

Although the browser losts its real battle a couple of years ago, and since M$ was able to strike a deal about his monopolitic behavior and walks away scot free, it is sad.

Interesting fade out transitions to show text over on Ray.V45.

Ok most advertising is just mass manipulation and boring and blah... but bear with me TRAKTOR as a group of *filmmakers* have achieved some really awesome (don't forget the audio) ads.

The what's new page is sporting a new table_less, div only, css positioning layout which is hinting at the backend rehauling of the site that we are embarking upon. Ain't that cool?!

Now the page is viewable even in Netscape 4.x which wasn't the case since our last redesign almost 2 years ago!

Css design is powerful and can replicate exactly what you are aiming for! Hats off JF Simard!
