No hype – just beautiful

Introducing my new studio spaces. No hype – just beautiful shot + edited by Carole Guevin.

I have shot my reworked and rearranged design – photo – painting spaces on what can be best described as a spur of the moment decision + inspiration. As many designers – my eyes can intake a large lateral vision.. and since my painting spot was in the same room as the editorial design + curation workstation.. I was constantly nagged by the in progress canvas: "work on me – work on me!"

Also right across the design library (which double-duties as room divider) – is our music studio and well.. painting requires solitude.. and quiet lol – and no big splashes of colors – thank you. All walls are white except for one cherry wall in the painting studio.

So thereyago – here is my monochromatic slightly pinkly colorized graphically enhanced mini studio tour.

That decision proved the best I took to enhance my creative working flow.

Love my mid-Century Modern chair in yellow (original) cuirette.

A brightly naturally lit live / work environment.

_______

The design library shelves are all color coded by book spines – it is very very pretty.

Partial view of my shooting area + drawing table – Italian designed which I proudly own for over 30+ years. It’s where I spread printouts + mount miniature staging.

Love the Good Morning Sunshine poster.

Umbra paper bin by Joshua Davis.

_______

You can see down the corridor – stacks of canvases. Rearranging the studio cleared the space – making for a large empty studio entrance. In progress canvases relocated where they belong.

Still got to get rid aka give away the piled boxes of books under the console.

I did a mostly white + black with very little colours photo collages on the Metro work tables + console which were a bit damaged – hence got them at a real cheapo price.

Love the Laugh out Lout box. Inspiring quotes written all over.

Inside my X30 Fujifilm digital camera.

_______

Entering the painting space. Huge couch is a great reading spot and single guess bed – if needed.

All art in that room is mine – except for a small illustrated poster of Sydney harbour.

The coaster table is where all the Bubble Gum Dreamer props are stored.

The polka dots cushions were a rare find – and imitate the colored dots in the painting which represents how deep JF and I are attached while pursuing our life (ad)ventures. Cool huh?

The black cushions states New York – not New Work.

_______

The painting room has an unusual configuration – 5 walls. In fact the brownstone is located on an irregular lot which means rooms in the back are smaller and moving to the front – expand.

Crazy enough – there is not one single 90 degrees wall in the flat.

Sun orientation is S/E. Summer = 40+ degrees.

Yay for our portable A/C.

_______

Since I shot the series – a few more paintings made there way in – but not overwhelming the space. It’s rather pleasant and stimulating. Some of my paint tubes – I do acrylic strictly – are in that very useful desserte on coasters that I move around as needed.

I painted over a cheap artwork a gradient of red to deep orange diagonals.

I loved the narrow rectangular format.

It once was a bed head.

_______

All my drawing material + more paint tubes + masking papers etc are lodged in these Ikea shelves. We actually use these profusely and have put (6) chrome feet to elevate them – huh heighten them – design and purpose wise.

One day I will paint the pale one with some crazy artwork.. I am not a beigy girl.

The pièce de résistance is an in progress painting (yet still untitled) that has found a home and will be leaving the studio as soon as I finish it.

One day I asked Alaa (Dr Dekis) – what were her fav colors: blue + pink her answer.

In order to clarify what is blue to her – I showed her that painting..

And it was love at first sight!

She later wrote – (sent her the picture) that it gives her goosebumps.

Guess that’s the best compliment one can receive – no?

//\

I am immensely grateful for the space + gear we have.

I am anticipating many years of creation.

And discovery.
