Julien Ducourthial studied audiovisual media and the project Ilbm short for Interleaved Bitmap in reference to the Amiga computer picture format, was created with artworks inspired by low-tech, graffiti and abstraction.
Kinda cool huh?

Aestheticode is a machine readable and human readable aesthetic encoding system. It is similar in function to a barcode, except it looks like anything but. Its complexity is similar to that of morse code and is open-source for dissemination. Its core purpose?

“The concept prototype was built on the Arduino Lilypad platform and used a variety of sensors including flexible sensing and conductive threads that are flexible, sewable and washable. The wireless capability was built using the Lylipad Xbee.”

Although the female mannequin (why not male, pretty sure they are the target as early adopters?) is showing too much boobs/sexiness to my taste. But I get it — need to convey the high fashionable glamour of this new-cool-must-have garment-device. Don’t misread me though, I am impressed.

You have got to see this (watch the video! Julia Tsao project: Curious Displays which functions simultaneously as a form of design research and as a proposal for a new product, a future display technology.
“The project explores our relationship with devices and technology by examining the multi-dimensionality of communication and the complexity of social behavior and interaction. In its essence, the project functions as a piece of design fiction, considering the fluctuating nature of our present engagement with media technology and providing futurist imaginings of other ways of being.”
