I am an avid defender of human rights – privacy for everyone (which is part of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Article 12) and I just discovered this upcoming service: DIME (Dark Internet Mail Environment).
_______
I wanted to ‘see’ who was behind and found these articles:
Secrets, lies and Snowden’s email: why I was forced to shut down Lavabit by Ladar Levison. It is a shocking read! Instead of relenting (and becoming complicit) to NSA / FBI and the whole US legal machine descending on him to get his ‘encryption keys’.. he shut down the service and blew away his company + 10 years of hard work.
Lavabit loses contempt of court appeal over Edward Snowden encryption keys
_______
Wow talk about convictions – this guy is the real-deal – because in the process – he lost everything. I cannot imagine the stress of going through such an ordeal.
But he stood his ground – and is.. rebuilding it with Silent Circle – a purveyor of secured apps.
I profoundly admire that.
Another brilliant product by Teenage Engineering. Presenting the Pocket Operator(s).
_______
Experience a fresh new way to creat music using your thumbs – pocket size – animated graphics – real synthesizer engines, sync, punch-in effets to make electronic music.
PO-12 -> rhythm – drum
PO-14 -> sub – bass line
PO-16 -> factory – melody
I am test-driving Vivaldi (tech preview v.) – a new browser – yepp don’t faint – finally after years of zippo – nenni – nothing – nein – nil alternates.
_______
At the helm – xOpera founder. Hinted in above screencap – the chrome is a close-enough flat design that leaves me wanting more of it not less..
_______
Tabs highlight using main favicon color – that’s nice. Runs on Linux – even nicer. But the logo needs to be made flat – not this horrible 2.0 era thingy.
_______
ndlr: Altho M$ is developing ‘Spartan’ (finally public admission that IE was crappola).
Following a discussion around this news and appalling infographic: Here’s where Apple really makes money by Jay Yarow and Skye Gould and related manufacturing scandals..
_______
I was pointed to – and am blown away – by not a small measure: Phonebloks <- please watch the video -> whereas Dave Hakkens built a ‘prototype’ of a modular mobile phone – aiming to prevent part waste.
An eco-friendly device.
_______
His idea was not to start a new phone company – but to inspire existing ones to consider this innovative route.
A large group of supporters the world around – are vested in making it happen. So if you’re a developer – a hacker – a mover – and want to shake the mobile scene – perhaps a project to consider supporting – collaborating with.
_______
Lapka x Project Ara – now being developed by Google – who are always ready to invest in ‘good’ ideas – exemplifies via photography and words – step by step of each components. Amazing.

How Apple (watch) is Invading Our Bodies by Lev Grossman.
Like a pushy date, the Apple Watch wants to get intimate with us in a way we’re not entirely used to or prepared for. This isn’t just a new product, this is technology attempting to colonize our bodies.
Once you’re OK with wearing technology, the only way forward is inward: the next product launch after the Apple Watch would logically be the iMplant.
Never offline?? Not on my watch.
Gotta love this retro feel packaging for the John Lewis Spectrum digital radio designed by Pentagram.
