It does take a while to load – perhaps too long for a portfolio showcase, but Christian Baur website has this scrolling effect that offers large visuals with smarty-pantsy taglines to display his projects.

Peopledesign work is people-centered. By walking in their customers’ shoes, they learn what they know, what they value, what annoys them, and what is missing in their experiences.
The website is a swell example of neutral palette meets airy navigation with striking visuals.

Results page though is too much. Thumbnails are way too small. Making these bigger plus choosing a smaller selection would have convey their point better.
Though I like the idea of using large visuals to show portfolio projects, in the case of Public – sometimes the transition from dark – whereas navigation disappears – to light is too much and makes for a poor user experience. The simplicity of the colored squares navigation is ok but the opening empty index space is overwhelming. Important to make sure to pick meaningfully related backgrounds.
Best to keep it within the same color range palette. Something to keep in mind if you intend to use such an approach.
Root is a London based design studio founded in 1990 by Martin Root. They specialise in design, art direction, advertising and film for entertainment and lifestyle clients.

Mouth-watering bigga funky fonts for a very special (gluten-free available) deli Marie Catribs who did total kitchen mess before finding her groove. Now she spuns daily healthy food. Check the menu. Luv the website turquoise background – soothing and somewhat exotic.
Read in the about, their approach towards, hiring, clients and suppliers. Inspiring. Looks like a cool place to greet and eat.
