Fantastic adverts with heads of state placed all over Copenhagen International Airport by the global coalition, tcktcktck.org and Greenpeace calling on world leaders to secure a fair, ambitious and binding deal at the Copenhagen Climate Summit.
As journalists and delegates arrive in the airport, they find the first message from world leaders waiting for them…
This ad depicts Stephen Harper, Prime minister of Canada.
Caption: “I’m sorry. We could have soptted catastrophic climate change… We didn’t.”

Wanna see a fantasticly well produced and designed project initiated by Lottie Crumbleholme a recent graduate of the RCA (Royal College of Art)? One that I wish would be replicated the world over?
Doing your bit is a campaign designed to give environmentally conscientious people ways of turning their individual actions into a larger form of political protest. This project is based around the idea, “If you are already doing you bit, wouldn’t it be nice to get a bit of help?”

Narani Kannan is a recent graduate and the Gotta Moo packaging concept and strategy is a sure indication of how the new generation of designers intend to tackle environmental expectations and constraints.
“The package focuses on the most eco-friendly method for milk packaging. This greener milk packaging solution will be made out of Sugarcane Bagasse molded pulp paper, coated inside with sugarcane lignin and printed with vegetable based inks, all based on food safe materials.”

How should we then eat? Hellmann’s short film (Eat Real. Eat Local) raises concerns that are global in perspective although the short film explains what’s happening to Canada’s local food system and why we should all care.
“Where’s your food coming from?”

Interminable traffic jams, massive incoming transiters using cars to get into cities are a plague and a large cost to quality of air (and mental health due to related stress) for large populated megapolis. Montreal with a 3.5 million demo that includes all surrounding suburbs won’t see any decrease since suburbs are still expanding further out from the center year after year.
We don’t own a car! We won’t own a car! We rent when absolutely necessary. We walk. We take the bus. We take the subway.
To incite reluctant transiters – a huge campaign with an environmentally conscious aim was launched by the STM, accurately named: Society in Motion. Now who said civic service communications had to be boring!

HOME, a movie by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, is a must see documentary with imagery that will simply take your breath away. Luckily the full feature (1:33 min) is available on the Home channel which includes supp footage (making of).
“Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth’s climate.”
Prep the popcorn, beverages, xtra seatings for friends, family this week-end and watch a truly moving movie.
Home our final frontier!

3650 is a “short film for Mtv Worldwide to help raise awareness of the effects of global warming. A combination of live action and animation. A globe in a classroom was shot on 16mm which was then tracked and populated with cg toy-like clouds, cars, planes, and cities.”
