Sean Gaffney

Luv the simple placehold on Sean Gaffney website.

Marcellini *up

Probably not the only one out there, Marcellini studio new website opens on people. Yepp. First and foremost the team is central and presented with a picture (some are quite funny) and little doodled black and white animations which characterize – my guess – each of them.

I’m impressed that such importance is given that.. On the other, no team – no clients – no projects.

The bottom part is a mumble-jumble of information – tad too smallish and perhaps not enough client works. But even the transition to it is a large doodled background.

Well original it is indeed.

_______

Llaunching their very own Marcellini Magazin – shows how confident they are in their ability for self-promo in view of garnering more client work.

Low-Res

The Noble Union is a design company based in London specialising in design and user experience. Their aim? To create simple, intuitive and beautiful apps for iPhone and iPad. Fab example on how to put together a low-res presentation for mobile apps projects.

Keeping it simple works.

Wersktatt.fr

Wersktatt‘s craftsmen present their new website. Let’s travel through the wheel of time to discover their work, while waiting for the new ones. Although flash websites may be less favourable in view of all the mobile migration frenzy (65% of all devices connecting to the Internet) – this one is a little jewel of interactive achievements.

Well organized, comprehensive nav, smart loading circle sequence which opens up more to reach full screen on hitting 100%.

Have a lookee.

Sold-out

It’s been a while since something like the Sold-out project came about. Text only interface – black capital letters with a boxy black underlink, yellow for accent (on mouseover). Simple enough indeed.

How does it works? Title + url + write a description + Submit.

Behind Ricardo

Ricardo Gimenes has found a very smart way to show his illustration skills (amongst others) – distribute his art for free as desktops (for iPhone too) and sells .eps for a nominal fee – all this in one swell woosh. Every other day he publishes a featurette about a website as an illustration. The portfolio section is a little rectangle with tabs that takes about 15% of interface.

So what do you think? Works or not?

BLANK #fbad9a

While waiting for her new website to go online – Alexandra Mendes aka BLANK – a design thinking (for graphic minds) independent design consultancy to both clients and design agencies has opted for a one-page placeholder with animated thumbnails of her past work and studio artefacts. Most unusual base color: #fbad9a – an opaque ‘flesh’ tone and tints with black accent.

Blank makes tailored projects. Experimentation is the basic structure of her work. Always looking for answers in the most improbable places. They must be there… Somewhere!
