Typographic chair? Oh my! The Dharma lounge is gorgeous! (mmm… reminds me of the Dharma Initiative from Lost – most probably unrelated).
Palette Industries have completed their limited run of their studio edition and are seeking manufacturers to bring it to a larger audience. Can help?

Luckily Victo Ngai is an illustrator and she finds her true identity there. Drawing gives her lots of joy, and hopefully it will get her some money, too. No doubt that her wishes will come true. What a marvelously exotic imagination she has.

Help Fix It t-shirt designed by Dynamo.

_______
All proceeds will go to the Red Cross Japan, and in return for your charitable act, you get to rock this snazzy t-shirt.

Just luv the light and color saturation in the photography work of Nick Meek. Not much info is available on him. He does very pretty pictures.

Your taste is why your own work disappoints you
Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not.
But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit.

Peter Frank Edwards is a former fishmonger and sous-chef with a degree in anthology. His photography reflects his passion for travel, people and food. So to all foodists – the Flavour section is a must see.
Luv the side by side presentation that offsets and complements each picture. This guy has got an eye for color, staging and a certain degree of visual drama.

Going meta is the new trend and Girlfriend new website is following suit. Are people going blind? Screen monitors too big? Or smartphones screen to small? Or wanting the right ratio effect on tablets, such as iPad, PlayBook or Xoom?
What do you think? Works or not?

Triborodesign is composed of a founding (husband and wife) duo: David Heasty and Stefanie Weigler. Most important to them: they have a desire to produce materials with intrinsic value that connect with audience and add positively to the world. They revel in the formulation of unique concepts that determine, define and control the core structure and all applications of a brand.
They thought it out, see how they output it to.

Nifty idea the 77 Web Buttons interactive experiment

Barber Osgerby is the creative sum of Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. They founded their eponymous studio in 1996 after graduating with Master’s degrees in Architecture from The Royal College of Art in London.
Check out the Pantone Stool limited edition they created for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in association with Pantone.
Wish part of the collection were stools in the studio.

Stereotype founded by Mike Joyce (a long time design veteran, who also teaches typography at the SVA), as their name infers, work mostly for labels in the entertainment industry. Much inclined towards typography, their packaging and posters reflect just that. They have designed for many a known-and-not-so-known band or artist.
Still rocking it!

Alwasy exciting to compile a reel – sorta of building a new film based on previous projects whereas you intend the ‘new’ editing to highlights the very best parts.
So it goes for Future Deluxe.

Beautiful photography. Love the Untitled (playtime) series by Lajos Geenen that aims to captures artists while they take a break and watch a movie. Rare to see studios environment so intimately revealed.
Quite an original idea indeed.

From one of my favorite design studio and soon available in print, the Cordial invitations series designed by FromKeetra.

Metehan Özcan photography focuses on the transformation of space and the self-consciousness from urban scale to interiors capturing traces of daily life, which reveals the alienation of people and their surrounding, questioning space and existence.
Check out the Absence series. Haunting.

AP-M-T 6. Confrerence & night. Back to the Basics, and Beyond. Iniative of Grandbase, a multidisciplinary design studio in Tokyo, Japan.
Upcoming: April 30

A crossover project with Surface magazine, Super Nature created a series of illustration that’s not just scratching the ‘Surface’ but to depict the deep inside of our emotional daily life. The project is to reuse the cover of Surface magazine to give new life and new perspectives on what we found in our life.
Who wouldn’t want to be commissioned such a project?
Must see!

Brand Republic stunning website and visuals zeroing on what they do best. Communication design and.. branding!

Fabulae by David Löhr. Mythical creatures appear in photographs of contemporary socio-political context. The images are digital composites based on found footage of international press photographs. There, mythical creatures replace human protagonists, changing the sceneries’ proposition and meaning deeply.
Part of his master thesis project.

Promising overture for UP inc a branding studio, but don’t think the small rounds navigation serve them well to propel what they do in a favorable way. Especially smallish type – you need to mouse over each to find the ‘work’ section, which then shows small visuals.
Wonder why they did not use the same ‘flashy’ style as the intro?

Mark Boyce has devised quite an intriguing website. Opens up on a single white small dot over black. Using the simple pictograms on the right – there ya go – you just found the navigation which leads to discover an astute way of showcasing his portfolio.
Shot through a transparent glass, (you clearly see how hands flattens against the surface) – potential for a complete DIY process, since you could easly use the ‘delayed’ shot feature on a digital camera set at the right height with the right lighting.
Particularly like the BE Broadband project, shown below.

Augmented City is a film produced by Keichi Matsuda final year Masters in Architecture, part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.
Would you like to live in such a city?

Graphical House was asked to create some promo material for Derek Welsh Studio. This led to a full-scale brand development. View the whole case study. Great work!

Designer’s Poison by Frank Chimero
I feel compelled to present a few designers’ poisons. In my opinion, these are the dispositions and mistakes of the field that I saw both addressed as problems and manifested in behavior in One Day for Design’s live stream.
There are important issues that need to be addressed that have a great influence on the future of our profession.
Must read!

Getting married soonish? Paper Record Player is a DIY interactive wedding invitation that includes an original song by bride and groom, that you fold and hand-spin to hear designed by Kelli Anderson.

Dallas Maurer aka Salad Design is a recent communication design graduate and he has learnt many talents such as how to relax and work simultaneously and meet unfair deadlines. Gotta luv his approach to print, editorial and packaging design.
He’s now available for work.

Going all pinky-stretchy-floaty-goo-like for OFFF 11 Year Zero animation by Onur Senturk.

Totto Renna aka Supertotto is a one-man-pixelart-design-studio based in Italy. Artist, illustrator and graphic designer, he collaborates with several magazines, international advertising agencies, production houses, publishing houses and new media agencies, ranging over illustrations, graphic, web-design, animations and multimedia products.
Astounding micro details! Probably one of the best!

LifeSpaceJourney is a collaborative, solutions-based design and property development consultancy – founded by brothers Glenn and Justin Lamont. Digging their sense of using sparse furniture to give grandeur to this living-dining-kitchen open-floor room.
Nice stools and chairs too.

Andy Potts is a London based illustrator/animator whose career has comprised image making, graphic design, animation and art direction including a 7 year stint as Lead designer at Abbey Road Studios.
Illustration has now taken centre stage working with a wide variety of clients in advertising, book covers and editorial work for international newspapers and magazines.
His style is one that has evolved to become even more personal since we first featured him, stronger in incorporating a mix media feel with loads of strong contrasting colors in as strong concepts.

Intriguing staging with reflective surfaces to deconstruct the shooting area, creating a kaleidoscopic effects around the products being showcased by Dan Tobin.
Check out the ‘Still Life’ sections to view more of his explorations.

Chaos on you from micocosme to macrocosme created by Touglis Babis aka The Zyme a fantastically multi-skills talented creative. Hit the refresh to redraw. Gotta luv the randomness algorithm that produces these.

Andreas Pihlström aka Suprb based in Stockholm, Sweden. Specializing in typography, concept, technology, art direction and graphic design, he has been responsible for user experience design, creative direction, and social network development for studios and agencies such as Universal Everything, North Kingdom and Syrup — for a wide-ranging client-base.

Sean Dekkers is a maker of pictures, things and ideas. Really like the composition of the following two visuals.

Lizzy Stewart graduated with a first class degree from Edinburgh College of Art in 2009. She is a fan of pencils, cardigans and Russian history. And also bears. Her style is in the grand tradition of classic illustration intersecting with a folksy naive gloss.

Guess we can all related one way or another (or one day or another) to Paula Scher‘s take on procrastination. Looks familiar? This is totally me today.

Ruiz+Company has devised this smashing one color identity and print collatorals for Kitchen Films, making a litteral metaphor of the name. Gotta luv how the different items build up to look like a.. real kitchen.
Ain’t that a terrific idea or what?

Let it play and let the images do the talking. 3-GROUP, a graphic design studio who marvels in print and strong typographic based projects, has the confidence – and a profound sense of the value they deliver to their clients.

Clever and simple navigational system for Imagehaus a design consultancy for consumer brands website website. Bottom slider opens up to download wallpapers or join their mailing list. Did you know? Over the years, gift cards have become a staple for most retailers. People love giving them, getting them and using them.
Do you use postcards as self-promo items?

It does take a while to load – perhaps too long for a portfolio showcase, but Christian Baur website has this scrolling effect that offers large visuals with smarty-pantsy taglines to display his projects.
So what do you think, works or not?

Always had a strong penchant for shoes, although nowadays I usually wear kicks (a nice assortment) and bikers boots (when I go out). Bernhard Willhem 2012 women’s collection is catching my attention with his cutting-edge staging coupled with eccentrically clothed models showing loads of attitude and really-really-really nice shoes.
A girl’s dream come true, sorta speaking.

Dopludo is a dreaming awake creative trio working as a collective in illustration, design, motion, merch, installation and wooden or soft objects. There is probably no limit to what they can enterprise successfully.
And on the ready for freelance projects.

We all know that exhibition booths can be boring or daring, but mostly they are just plain and.. blah. Now have a look at what Martin Oberhäuser and team from Mutabor devised for Adidas. The aerial view shows a folded like structure with all the different sections having their unique corner and design that symbolizes airiness, stability and dynamic.
Plenty of images available to see the final and the making of. Amazing or not?

For decades, the best that British seaside towns have been able to offer is faded glamour. Icon Magazine invited London design studio Proud Creative to bring about a Rhyl renaissance.

I am so ready for a change of weather. Enough of Winter, bring in Summer. In this Northern city, it’s hard to imagine that the ugly gray snow will melt, that trees will recover their foliage and won’t need to wear a feather coat to stay warm.
Yes, probably something in the color range of these two illustrations by Bernard Fortet.
Can do?
