Flash no more?
The Gradual Disappearance Of Flash Websites by Brad Cooper
“With the recent announcement of iPad’s lack of Flash support and the continued lack of it on the iPhone, the debate has reached beyond the development community to include Adobe and Apple themselves.
The list of websites that are ditching Flash in favor of Web standards is growing every day. Even if these decisions are driven by the iPad and iPhone’s lack of Flash, they’ll soon reap the other benefits that Web standards bring.”
_______
Flash and Standards: The Cold War of the Web by Dan Mall
“Both the standards community and the Flash community are extremely good at sharing knowledge and supporting the people within their respective groups. The relationship across communities, however, isn’t nearly as cordial. Two things are happening: either the people within each camp stay to themselves, or one ignorantly hurls insults at the other.”

Folk art, funky round edgy characters, fascination with staging thinking heads, emerging talent Federico Jordan does these all.
Bang-Bang
Dang don’t want any of my <stuff> be linked to by and for companies or friends on social networks. Simple Help has made this very brief tutorial available that will show you how to disable Facebook’s latest “has some privacy issues” service, Open Graph.
What is the meaning of opt-in baby? You know, you ask me and I get to choose. Not discovering this after the fact. Made some quick research, to discover that these companies just want to make it easier for us to connect and share.. which they will track with mega server parks.. and a full new wing of tallying geeks to crunch meaning out of our activities.. and all that for nothing?!?!
Because they want to SHARE on the web.. Since when share has become synonymous with profit?!?!
We’re NOT 2 yrs old being taught not to cross the street on the red light here.
Dang. Bang-bang.
HAT vs FORGET
The song HAT by Max and Laura Braun presents an enigmatic story of love, discovery and loss, a sense of home and growing up. This music video was designed and produced by Büro Achter April in Stuttgart. I feel it holds a lot of the same visual direction and perhaps a bit too much semblance to FORGET which was featured a little while ago.

Bulldog is 20
You turned 20. What do you do to underline this special moment? Check out what Bulldog did:
“Over the years, our company has been very comfortable with presenting a witty face to the world – from our choice of name to the imagery that people associate with us. We developed this visual pun to commemorate our 20th anniversary on February 10th, 2010. The piece fuses a crossword puzzle with our logo to create a playful visual short-hand for what Bulldog has done over the last 20 years.”
Way cool concept!

Networking garment?
“The concept prototype was built on the Arduino Lilypad platform and used a variety of sensors including flexible sensing and conductive threads that are flexible, sewable and washable. The wireless capability was built using the Lylipad Xbee.”
Although the female mannequin (why not male, pretty sure they are the target as early adopters?) is showing too much boobs/sexiness to my taste. But I get it — need to convey the high fashionable glamour of this new-cool-must-have garment-device. Don’t misread me though, I am impressed.

Making ideas happen
Scott Belsky and I were introduced by a mutual friend, and right off, I was taken by his passion and pragmatic approach to a project then in infancy: Behance (Network).
After a long conversation, I was thinking that he had launched the project I wish I had thought of – since such a void in the creative community was begging to be filled. Since then, everytime we exchanged – he pried my mind for honest positive or negative feedback in order to finetune and exercise critical assessment of where he was at, in making his ideas happen.
Now after 5 years in the making, he is just about to release a book that encompasses the core problem of all walk creatives: taking their ideas from inspiration to execution. My review copy is starting to look like a barriolage of highlighted-not-to-be-forgotten-tips-and-insights, it is just that relevant. Just the table of contents is enough to salivate in anticipation.
Please support someone who will make a true difference in how you approach both career and projects. Pre-order the book now.

On/Off scrolling
What happens if you build your website that is so task intensive, requiring too much of your puter resources that original intention is defeated? I think Kenjiro Harigai idea was probably to offer a quick-view portfolio. But the constant animated scrolling, should have been provide an on/off option, and the poorly lit navigation makes it hard to have a good experience.
